Our focus
South Island Fieldnotes helps travellers put together worthwhile days in South Cowichan: forest walks, villages, food visits and the practical details of a stay. The first edition centres on Cowichan Bay, Shawnigan Lake, Cobble Hill and Mill Bay, with nearby Duncan as a town alternative.
We publish on southvanislebnb.com as an independent travel guide. We do not operate the South Cowichan Bed & Breakfast Association, represent its members, certify accommodation or accept reservations.
How the guides are prepared
Articles are attributed to the South Island Fieldnotes Editorial Team and are based on research from park authorities, transport operators, local institutions and destination organisations. Links appear where the source helps you make a decision. We do not claim personal visits, interviews or firsthand reviews of the providers mentioned.
The source-review date records an editorial check. It does not mean a timetable, price, closure or availability is continuously monitored. Where public information conflicts, we explain the issue and direct readers to the operator.
Photography and enquiries
The photographs show real locations and include archival views. Article captions and image descriptions identify their dates where relevant. They are not evidence of current access or business operation. Photographer and licence information is collected in the photo credits.
